TO DEVELOP INDEPENDENCE OF FINGERING

One photograph enclosed No.21a. Photos Nos. 2 and 17, previously sent, to be used also.

The photographs show the left hand. Each hand to be exercised separately, as before.

Hold the hand as in photo No. 2. Extend the first finger as much as possible without strain as in photo 17, retaining the position for 10 seconds.


Bend the first finger from the middle joint only, the other three fingers being kept perfectly straight, and endeavour to keep it well separated from the other fingers as in photo No. 21a, retaining this position for 10 seconds.

Resume the position shown in photo No. 2.

Extend the fourth finger in a similar way to the first finger in photo No. 17, and retain it in this position for 10 seconds.

Now bend the fourth finger from the middle joint as in photo No. 21a, keeping it well separated from the other fingers and retaining it in this position for 10 Seconds.

Practise six or seven times with the left hand then with the right, and continue for ten minutes. Repeat the exercise after a considerable interval for a further ten minutes.
